        Frequently Asked Questions

        Ordering:

How far in advance do I need to place my order?

All of our products can be ordered months in advance for pick up or delivery. You will be able to choose your preferred date and time once the products are in your cart.

If your date is unavailable to select, then we will be at capacity for cakes for that day. We will however, still have other products like cupcakes available.

Many of our products have different lead times, so if you are ordering at short notice, be sure to check the ‘Lead Time’ tab at the bottom of each product page, to avoid disappointment.

Fridays, Saturdays and days of celebration like Valentine's Day, are our busiest, so we always recommend getting your order in as soon as you can. We do operate and deliver 7 days though, so you can usually select the next day of the week instead.

Can I pick up a cake today?

Absolutely! Our Ready Now collection offers an array of freshly baked goods, ready to be picked up from our Kingsland or Commercial Bay Cafe; or delivered anywhere in Auckland within 2 hours.

What if I need to change my order?

We are happy to be as flexible as possible for any order changes. Please just email us as soon as possible with your order number and what you would like to change and we will do our best to accomodate you - orders@bluebellscakery.co.nz

What if I need to cancel my order?

Please read our Cancellation Policy before placing your order and our lead times if you are ordering at short notice.

We create everything to order, so by cancelling at the last minute, we are usually left with products we can’t do anything with. We know things can go wrong but the earlier you let us know, the easier it is for us to help you out!

Either email us on orders@bluebellscakery.co.nz or call on 09 377 3429.

        Delivery:

        Do you deliver?

We offer local delivery on ALL PRODUCT in central Auckland 7-days a week. The fragile nature of our product dictates that we take extreme care to ensure your order arrives in the same high standard as when it leaves our kitchen in Kingsland. This is why it is either delivered using our own dedicated delivery drivers, or via external couriers generally on a 60 minute basis.

The cost of your delivery will depend on the distance from our Kingsland kitchen.

We offer 1 delivery time slot per day: 8am - 3pm.

How do I know my delivery is on it's way?

The morning of your delivery you should receive an email with an estimated delivery time, and a second email when your order is about 30 minutes away.

If you need to change anything about the delivery once you have received this email please ring or email the office, orders@bluebellscakery.co.nz, +64 9 377 3429

What if I need my delivery by a specific time?

We offer a priority delivery service if you know you need your order before a certain time.

To have your order by a specific time, please select  Priority Delivery at checkout, and select your time slot, this is an additional $20.00. The earliest time slot we can guarantee delivery by is 10am. We will always do our best to get your order to you on time but we can’t control the Auckland traffic!

What happens if I’m not home when you deliver?

Please leave clear instructions when placing your order or a note for the driver, at checkout there is an option to allow us to leave your order in a safe place if you are not home if you know you will be out during your delivery please select this to avoid any unnecessary redelivery fees.

Our drivers are very experienced and will always try to contact you and leave your order in a safe place.

However, if there is nowhere safe, it will be returned by our drivers to our Kingsland branch where it will be held for 24 hours. You are welcome to collect from here during cafe hours or if you would like us to try delivering again the next day, a re-delivery fee will be required.

Due to the nature of our products, if you provide an incorrect address, phone number, or a non-NZ phone number, and we are unable to deliver or contact you or the recipient, we take no responsibility for this and a refund will not be provided.

        Cake Ordering:

What size cake do you suggest for my party?

Cake size depends on the number of servings you require as well as the type of event you are catering.

On each cake product page we have a handy guide to help you choose the right sized cake for your event.

How do I cut and serve my cake?

Here is a handy guide to help you.

How long should it be out of the fridge before serving?

We recommend serving our cakes at room temperature. Depending on the size of the cake and temperature on the day, we recommend bringing it out of the fridge about 1.5-2 hours before serving.

How long can it be out of the fridge?

Up to 4 hours. It’s important to not have the cake anywhere too warm (like your car) or in direct sun for too long. The icing will soften and the cake can start to dry out the longer it’s left out.

How should I store my cake?

We recommend picking up your cake the day of your event. If you do need to keep it for a few days it will be fine for up to 3 days after receiving it. Store it in the fridge in its box or an airtight container, then bring it back out to come back to room temperature before consuming again.

How do I transport my cake?

Keep the cake box as flat as possible when transporting it. We recommend the footwell of your car, boot, or flat on someone's knee.

        Other tips:

        • Always hold the box from the bottom and don’t hold or squeeze the sides.
        • Unfold the box to remove the cake - don’t lift it out.
        • Don’t leave it in your car!

        Dietary Options:

Do you have any gluten free/dairy free/vegan/vegetarian products?

We have a large selection of cakes and other products that are allergen friendly including:

        • Gluten Free
        • Dairy Free
        • Vegan (egg, dairy and nut free)
        • Gluten and Dairy Free
        • Nut Free
        • Vegetarian

All of these are clearly marked on our website so you can order with confidence.

NOTE: Although we take steps to minimise risk and safely handle the foods that contain potential allergens, all the above are made in a kitchen where we work with eggs, dairy, gluten (from wheat), nuts and meat. We therefore, cannot guarantee there is no cross contamination.

Are any of your products halal?

Unfortunately we don’t currently have any products that are halal friendly.

Our cakes and cupcakes contain vanilla which has trace amounts of alcohol and our cheesecakes contain gelatin and vanilla.

Are any of your cakes keto friendly?

We bake with all traditional ingredients meaning none of our current offerings are keto friendly.

Do any of your cakes have alcohol in them?

We don’t add alcohol to any of our products but we do use vanilla essence which contains trace amounts of alcohol.

        Are your cheesecakes vegetarian?

We use gelatin in all our cheesecakes so unfortunately, they are not suitable for vegetarian, vegan or halal diets.
